Sezaneh (Suzy) Taherian is a seasoned financial executive and independent board director with over 25 years of experience serving as Chief Financial Officer, Chief Operating Officer, and acting Chief Executive Officer for global industrial companies. She currently serves as Chief Financial Officer at Carbon Upcycling Technologies and as a board member of NewHold Investment Corp IV (NHIV), a special purpose acquisition company that priced its $175 million IPO in April 2026. She is also a board member of Heffernan Insurance Brokers, a position she has held since at least July 2024. Her most recent full-time executive role prior to Carbon Upcycling was as CFO of 3Degrees Group, a major player in the origination, sales, and trading of environmental commodities with annual revenues exceeding $800 million, where she oversaw the company's finance and accounting teams. She has also been an adjunct professor at the UC Davis Graduate School of Management for approximately ten years, teaching courses on International Finance and International Business.

(February 2017 to December 2019), a global engineering and construction firm; RePower (July 2016 to January 2017), a national solar company; NobleIron (June 2015 to June 2016), a publicly traded construction equipment rental company on the Toronto Stock Exchange; and eCullet (April 2013 to May 2015), a national glass manufacturer. Over her career, she has completed over $7 billion in M&A and financings, including $540 million in private equity financing and four major acquisitions during her tenure at Xpansiv alone.
In the SPAC space, Taherian has been deeply involved across multiple NewHold Investment Corp vehicles. She served as an independent director of NewHold Investment Corp. (the first SPAC) from July 2020 to July 2021, and that entity ultimately completed a business combination with Evolv Technologies Holdings (EVLV). She also served as a director of NewHold Investment Corp. II, filing ownership reports in October 2021, and has been a director of NewHold Investment Corp. III since September 2024, with the company having closed a $201.25 million IPO including full exercise of underwriters' over-allotment. Her Form 3 initial statement of beneficial ownership for NewHold Investment Corp IV was filed in April 2026 for the period ending April 14, 2026. Her prior board service includes Wrightspeed, an electric vehicle company and World Economic Forum Technology Pioneer Award winner; Glass to Glass, a joint venture with Owens Illinois, the world's largest glass manufacturer; and Chevron Federal Credit Union, which has over $1 billion in assets. She has also served on various nonprofit boards and was appointed as a Contra Costa County Library Commissioner, advocating for literacy and education for approximately one million county residents.
Taherian holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of California, Davis, and an MBA from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University. She is approximately 56 years old and resides in Danville, California, in the San Francisco Bay Area. She has been a member of the Steering Committee of the CFO Leadership Council since 2019 and was recognized as Silicon Valley Woman CFO of the Year in 2023 by Financial Executives International.
