He also serves as Lead Independent Director of F5, Inc., having been appointed to that position in March 2026 after rejoining the F5 board in October 2023; he previously served as an F5 director from July 2018 to March 2021. In addition, Combes sits on the boards of Phillip Morris International (as Director and Chair of the Audit Committee) and Etisalat (as Director and Chair of the Nominations & Remunerations Committee), is a member of the advisory team of McLaren Racing Limited, and serves on the boards of several private companies. Prior to joining Lambda, Combes served as Executive Vice President at Claure Group LLC, a global entrepreneurial and investment firm.
Combes's career spans nearly four decades across some of the world's largest telecommunications and technology companies. He subsequently joined TDF Group (TéléDiffusion de France) as Chief Executive Officer while also serving as Chairman and CEO of GlobeCast, a France Telecom subsidiary. He then headed TDF Group before becoming CEO of Vodafone Europe from 2008 to 2012. On February 22, 2013, he was appointed CEO of Alcatel-Lucent, succeeding Ben Verwaayen, where he announced a major restructuring plan to focus on networking products and high-speed broadband and cut costs by one billion euros by 2015. He left Alcatel-Lucent in September 2015, after Nokia announced its intention to acquire the company, to join Altice as Chief Operating Officer. He became CEO of Altice N.V. in 2016 and resigned in November 2017.
In January 2018, Combes was appointed CFO of Sprint Corporation and was elevated to President and CEO in May of that year, serving until Sprint's merger with T-Mobile US was consummated in April 2020, a $59 billion transaction he was responsible for managing. Following Sprint, he joined SoftBank Group International as President in April 2020 and was appointed CEO on January 28, 2022, overseeing SBGI's operating and investment portfolios, including the SoftBank LatAm Funds, until his departure in 2022. This record is keyed to SEC CIK 0001708849 — the identifier this person files under in their own name. Every vehicle above is a filing made under that CIK, so “the same person on two shells” is a fact about an SEC identifier rather than about a name that happens to match.
Roles are the strings the filings used, in the order they were filed. Nothing on this page ranks them, infers seniority, or offers a reason why any two of these names recur — a recurrence is a count, and the filings that produced it are linked beside every row. We also hold 56 institutional-holder rows on these vehicles, under 34 distinct name strings, and none of them is counted across vehicles: that table has no CIK column, and matching holders by name would merge firms that are not the same firm.
