George Syllantavos is a seasoned corporate finance executive and SPAC sponsor based in Athens, Greece, currently serving as Co-Chief Executive Officer, Chief Financial Officer, Secretary, and Director of Stellar V Capital Corp. (Nasdaq: SVCC), a Cayman Islands-based special purpose acquisition company that closed its $150 million initial public offering in January 2025 underwritten by BTIG. He co-founded Stellar V Capital Corp. in 2024 alongside long-time business partner Prokopios (Akis) Tsirigakis, with whom he has collaborated across multiple blank-check ventures. The SPAC was formed to effect a merger, share exchange, asset acquisition, or similar business combination with one or more operating businesses. Syllantavos's career spans more than three decades across shipping, energy, telecommunications, aviation, and financial services, with a particular emphasis on U.S. capital markets transactions including IPOs and SPAC formations.
Prior to Stellar V Capital Corp., Syllantavos served as Co-CEO and CFO of Stellar Acquisition III Corp. (Nasdaq: STLR) from December 2015 to December 2018, a SPAC that ultimately completed a business combination with Phunware, Inc. He continued as a director of Phunware (Nasdaq: PHUN) from December 2018 through at least 2025, also holding the roles of Co-CEO, CFO, and Secretary during the transition period. He served as Co-CEO and CFO of Growth Capital Acquisition Corp. (GCAC) from December 2019, which completed a merger with Cepton, Inc. (Nasdaq: CPTN), a LiDAR technology company, where he subsequently served as a director. He also served as a board member and Chair of the audit committee of ITHAX Acquisition Corp. (Nasdaq: ITHX) from January 2021, which completed a merger with Mondee, a travel technology company, in a transaction valued at approximately $1 billion. Additionally, he has served as a director of Beam Global (Nasdaq: BEEM) and as a director of Petrohunter Energy Corp. His earlier SPAC experience includes co-founding and serving as Co-CEO and CFO of Nautilus Marine Acquisition Corp., which completed its IPO on Nasdaq in July 2011 raising approximately $60.6 million, and serving as CFO, Secretary, and Director of Star Maritime Acquisition Corp. (AMEX: SEA), a blank-check company, from May 2005 to November 2007, which was the predecessor to Star Bulk Carriers Corp. (Nasdaq: SBLK), where he continued as CFO, Secretary, and Director from November 2007 to August 2011.
Beyond his SPAC activities, Syllantavos co-founded Nautilus Energy Management Corp. in February 2013, a maritime energy services company focused on offshore supply and gas sectors, where he has served as CEO and managing director. He served as CFO of Nautilus Offshore Services Inc. from February 2013 to April 2014. From September 2009 to December 2016, he was President, Secretary, Treasurer, and sole director of BTHC X, Inc. (OTCBB: BTXI), continuing on its board following its merger with iOra Software Ltd. From May 1999 to December 2007, he was President and General Manager of Vortex Ltd., an aviation consulting firm specializing in strategic analysis, fleet planning, and asset management, building on earlier experience as an aviation consultant. From January 1998 to April 1999, he served as a financial advisor to Hellenic Telecommunications Organization S.A. (OTE), where he coordinated and led the company's NYSE listing and managed strategic planning for multiple fixed-line telecom acquisitions. He served as a financial and strategic advisor to the Greek Ministry of Industry & Energy from June 1995 to May 1996 and to the Greek Ministry of Health from May 1996 to January 1998, where he helped structure the equivalent of a US$700 million bond issuance to settle outstanding debts to suppliers of the Greek National Health System. This record is keyed to SEC CIK 0001333845 — the identifier this person files under in their own name. Every vehicle above is a filing made under that CIK, so “the same person on two shells” is a fact about an SEC identifier rather than about a name that happens to match.
Roles are the strings the filings used, in the order they were filed. Nothing on this page ranks them, infers seniority, or offers a reason why any two of these names recur — a recurrence is a count, and the filings that produced it are linked beside every row. We also hold 45 institutional-holder rows on these vehicles, under 22 distinct name strings, and none of them is counted across vehicles: that table has no CIK column, and matching holders by name would merge firms that are not the same firm.
