Nicolas "Nick" S. Rohatyn is the Founder, Chief Executive Officer, Partner, and Chief Investment Officer of The Rohatyn Group (TRG), a global asset manager specializing in emerging markets and real assets that he established in 2002. Headquartered in New York, TRG manages approximately $7 billion in assets under management as of December 2025 and operates across 14 countries spanning Latin America, EMEA, Asia, and Oceania, with approximately 100 professionals. Rohatyn oversees the firm's overall strategy and management and serves on TRG's Executive Committee. In his SPAC role, Rohatyn serves as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of TRG Latin America Acquisitions Corp. (Nasdaq: TRGSU), a Cayman Islands exempted blank check company sponsored by an affiliate of TRG that closed a $200 million IPO in February 2026, with Santander serving as sole bookrunner. The SPAC is focused on pursuing a business combination in Latin America, with a particular emphasis on Argentina, targeting sectors such as energy, mining, agribusiness, technology, and IT-enabled services.
Prior to founding TRG, Rohatyn spent 19 years at J.P. Morgan, where he held a variety of leadership positions across emerging markets, foreign exchange, commodities, credit markets, and e-commerce functions. He served five years as a member of J.P. Morgan's executive management team and held the role of Managing Director and Head of Emerging Markets Sales, Trading and Research. In that capacity, he established offices in Mexico, South Africa, Turkey, Russia, Korea, and India, and built and restructured the emerging markets sales, trading, and research area from a loan-based business into an integrated and diversified sales, trading, and capital markets operation. Under his leadership, J.P. Morgan established its widely acknowledged leadership position in emerging markets securities distribution, trading, and research, earning numerous awards and industry-wide recognition. Rohatyn was also a founder and former Chairman of the Emerging Markets Traders Association (EMTA), an organization widely recognized as the authority on market standards, practices, and volumes.
Rohatyn currently serves on the boards of The Asia Society, the Global Private Capital Association (GPCA), where he previously served as chairman and currently serves on the Emeriti Advisory Board, and the French Institute/Alliance Française. He is a Trustee of the Citizens Budget Commission and serves on the Investment Committee of the Foundation for Contemporary Arts. He formerly served on the boards of The Alvin Ailey American Dance Theatre, Robert College of Istanbul, MarketAxess, the Local Initiatives Support Corporation (LISC), the RiskMetrics Group, Archipelago, and the Lewis T. Preston Foundation for Girls. A native New Yorker, Rohatyn holds a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Brown University. He is the son of the late Felix Rohatyn, the renowned Lazard investment banker who brokered numerous major mergers and acquisitions and served as U.S. Ambassador to France from 1997 to 2000.
