Miguel Alberto Kiguel is an Argentine economist and financial advisor with more than four decades of experience spanning macroeconomics, financial markets, banking, and public policy. He currently serves as Executive Director of Econviews, an economic and financial consultancy advising domestic and international corporations, financial institutions, and investment funds, and as an Independent Director on the board of TRG Latin America Acquisitions Corp. (NASDAQ: TRGS), a $200 million SPAC focused on strategic opportunities in Latin America, particularly Argentina, which priced its IPO in February 2026 under the leadership of CEO Nicolas Rohatyn and CFO Miguel Gutierrez. Kiguel also serves as President of the Board of Banco del Sol S.A. (a director since August 2019, President since May 2025) and as a board member of Raghsa S.A. (since June 2025) and Nuverse S.A. He previously held board seats at Megainver S.A. (later Mega QM S.A.) from 2012 to 2024, Puente Hermanos S.A. from 2013 to 2024, and served as Chairman of Banco Hipotecario S.A. from 2000 to 2003.
Kiguel's career in public service and international institutions is extensive. He was a Lead Economist (rising from Economist to Senior Economist to Principal Economist) at the World Bank from 1987 to 1994, working in the Macroeconomic Adjustment and Growth Division and Development Economics department. He then served as Deputy General Manager for Economics and Finance and Chief Economist of the Central Bank of Argentina (BCRA) from 1994 to 1996, followed by Undersecretary of Finance at the Ministry of Economy and Public Works and Services from 1996 to 1999, and Chief of the Cabinet of Economic Advisors from 1998 to 1999. Earlier, he was a Research Associate at the Institute for International Economics in Washington, DC (1983–1984). He has also consulted for Latin American governments and multilateral institutions including the IMF, the World Bank, the Inter-American Development Bank, and the BIS, and serves as an academic advisor to FIEL (Latin American Economic Research Foundation).
In academia, Kiguel has been Professor of Money and Banking at Universidad Torcuato Di Tella since 1997 and serves as Research Director there. He was an Assistant Professor of Economics at the University of Maryland at College Park from 1983 to 1987, a Visiting Associate Professor at Georgetown University from 1990 to 1994, and taught at CEMA University. He holds a Licenciado en Economía from the University of Buenos Aires (1976) and an MA (1980), MPhil (1982), and Ph.D. in Economics (1983) from Columbia University. His research covers inflation and stabilization policies, exchange rate and monetary policy, and financial markets, and his academic papers have been published across the USA, Europe, and Latin America. He recently co-authored the book "Las crisis económicas argentinas: una historia de ajustes y desajustes" with Sebastián Kiguel (Editorial Sudamericana) and is a prolific author of Econviews reports on Argentine macroeconomic conditions. He is affiliated with the Centre for Economic Policy Research (CEPR) and the World Economic Forum. Based in Buenos Aires, Kiguel brings to the TRGS board deep expertise in Argentine and regional economic policy, financial markets, and institutional governance.
