Dr. Dieter Ernst Zetsche is a German engineer and business executive who currently serves as Vice Chairman and President of Kensington Capital Acquisition Corp. VI (NYSE: KCAC.U), a special purpose acquisition company focused on the automotive and industrial sectors. He has held this role since the SPAC's formation, working alongside Chairman and CEO Justin Mirro. Kensington Capital Acquisition Corp. VI completed its $230 million initial public offering in early 2026, and in July 2026 the company announced a definitive business combination agreement with Nth Cycle, Inc., a critical minerals refiner using its modular OYSTER electroextraction platform, in a transaction implying a pro forma enterprise value of approximately $585 million. The combined company is expected to be named Nth Cycle Holdings, Inc. and listed on the NYSE under the ticker "NTH." Zetsche brings over 45 years of global automotive experience to the role, making him one of the most seasoned executives in the SPAC's leadership structure.
Zetsche's career is defined by his more than four decades at Daimler-Benz AG, which he joined in 1976 as a researcher in the research department after completing his electrical engineering studies. He was born on May 5, 1953, in Istanbul, Turkey, where his father, a civil engineer, was working on a dam construction project; the family returned to Germany in 1956. He attended school near Frankfurt and studied electrical engineering from 1971 to 1976 at the University of Karlsruhe, graduating as an engineer, and completed his doctorate in engineering in 1982 at the University of Paderborn. Within Daimler, he rose rapidly through leadership positions in Brazil, Argentina, and the United States, serving as President of Mercedes-Benz Argentina starting in 1989, President of Freightliner Corporation in 1991, and Member of the Board of Management with responsibility for Commercial Vehicles in 1999. In mid-2000, he was appointed President and CEO of the Chrysler Group, a position he held through December 31, 2005, during which he was credited with a turnaround of DaimlerChrysler's American operations. On January 1, 2006, he succeeded Jürgen Schrempp as Chairman of the Board of Management of DaimlerChrysler (later Daimler AG) and Head of Mercedes-Benz Cars, a role he held until May 22, 2019, when he was succeeded by Ola Källenius. He was the main architect behind the demerger of Daimler and Chrysler in 2007, which resulted in the formation of the newly independent Daimler AG. He is widely credited with reversing a decade-long decline in Mercedes-Benz product quality and customer satisfaction, and was named to Time magazine's 2006 list of the 100 most influential people.
Since retiring from Daimler, Zetsche has taken on significant governance roles. He has served as Chair of the Supervisory Board of TUI Group since 2019, having first been elected to the supervisory board in February 2018. He is also a member of the Aldi Süd Advisory Board and holds positions in several other companies. He was expected to become chairman of Daimler's supervisory board in 2021, succeeding Manfred Bischoff, subject to a two-year regulatory hiatus. At Kensington Capital Acquisition Corp. VI, he serves on a board that includes independent directors William Kassling, Anders Pettersson, Mitchell Quain, Donald Runkle, and Matthew Simoncini. The SPAC is headquartered at 1400 Old Country Road and is part of the broader Kensington Capital family of SPACs targeting automotive and industrial technology businesses. Zetsche is known for his multilingual abilities, reportedly fluent in English, French, Latin, Portuguese, and Spanish, and remains active as a keynote speaker on topics including the future of mobility, innovation, and environmental issues.
This record is keyed to SEC CIK 0001908706 — the identifier this person files under in their own name. Every vehicle above is a filing made under that CIK, so “the same person on two shells” is a fact about an SEC identifier rather than about a name that happens to match.
Roles are the strings the filings used, in the order they were filed. Nothing on this page ranks them, infers seniority, or offers a reason why any two of these names recur — a recurrence is a count, and the filings that produced it are linked beside every row. We also hold 7 institutional-holder rows on these vehicles, under 6 distinct name strings, and none of them is counted across vehicles: that table has no CIK column, and matching holders by name would merge firms that are not the same firm.
