Gus Garcia is a seasoned investment banker and SPAC sponsor who currently serves as Co-Chief Executive Officer and Director of GSR V Acquisition Corp. (GSRVU), a blank check company targeting businesses with leading market positions that priced its $200 million IPO in May 2026. In addition to his role at GSR V, Garcia is a Managing Partner at Polaris Advisory Partners LLC (formerly SPAC Advisory Partners), a division of Kingswood Capital that serves as the sponsor team and lead manager for the GSR series of SPACs. He graduated Magna Cum Laude from Georgetown University, where he earned both a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and a Master of Science in International Commerce and Finance between 1999 and 2003.
Garcia built his expertise over a 19-plus-year investment banking career at Bank of America Merrill Lynch, where he ultimately served as the Head of SPAC M&A. In this capacity, he advised companies and SPACs on all aspects of merger transactions. Prior to leading the SPAC M&A group, he headed the bank's separations practice, focusing on complex corporate transactions such as spin-offs—including one of the top five largest spin-offs in corporate history—split-offs, reverse Morris trusts, carve-out IPOs, and structured private capital raises. Before the merger of Merrill Lynch with Bank of America, Garcia worked in Merrill Lynch's corporate finance group, where he concentrated on complex corporate transactions and structured investments held on the bank's balance sheet in partnership with the Global Principal Investment Group.
Throughout his career, Garcia has established a formidable track record in the SPAC and broader M&A markets. He has advised on 14 closed SPAC transactions representing approximately $20 billion in negotiated equity value since September 2020, and has overseen transactions exceeding $150 billion in
This record is keyed to SEC CIK 0001862624 — the identifier this person files under in their own name. Every vehicle above is a filing made under that CIK, so “the same person on two shells” is a fact about an SEC identifier rather than about a name that happens to match.
Roles are the strings the filings used, in the order they were filed. Nothing on this page ranks them, infers seniority, or offers a reason why any two of these names recur — a recurrence is a count, and the filings that produced it are linked beside every row. We also hold 17 institutional-holder rows on these vehicles, under 11 distinct name strings, and none of them is counted across vehicles: that table has no CIK column, and matching holders by name would merge firms that are not the same firm.
