Randy Bort is a seasoned investment banker, capital markets executive, and prolific SPAC board director who currently serves as Chief Strategy and Capital Markets Officer at Serverfarm, a data center company, a position he has held since September 2023. He is based in Manhattan Beach, California. In addition to his executive role, Bort is a Managing Director at CoVestia Capital Partners and a Co-Founder and partner of SandTree Holdings, LLC, a private commercial real estate investment firm he helped establish in November 2012. He has built a career spanning decades in financial services, with deep transactional and capital markets expertise across multiple industries and geographies, including work both domestically and in Asia.
Bort's investment banking career included tenures at several prominent Wall Street firms, beginning at Drexel Burnham Lambert and continuing at BT Securities, Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette, Credit Suisse First Boston, The Mercanti Group, and Imperial Capital. He earned a B.A. in Economics and Mathematics from Claremont McKenna College and an M.B.A. in Finance and Entrepreneurial Management from The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, where he is recognized as a member of the WG'92 cohort and remains active in alumni circles, including the Wharton Club of the National Capital Region.
Bort is perhaps best known for his extraordinary breadth of SPAC board service across the Gores Group platform. He has served as a director on an unbroken series of Gores-sponsored special purpose acquisition companies, including Gores Holdings I (August 2015 through the Hostess acquisition in November 2016), Verra Mobility Corp., formerly Gores Holdings II (January 2017 to June 2019), Gores Holdings III (September 2018 through the PAE acquisition in February 2020), Gores Metropoulos (February 2019 through the Luminar acquisition in December 2020), Gores Holdings IV (June 2019 through the UWM acquisition in January 2021), Gores Holdings V (June 2020 through the AMP acquisition in August 2021), Gores Holdings VI (June 2020 through the Matterport acquisition in July 2021), Gores Metropoulos II (January 2021 through the Sonder transaction in January 2022), and Gores Guggenheim (March 2021 through the Polestar transaction in June 2022). He has also served on the boards of Gores Holdings VII since February 2021, Gores Holdings VIII since March 2021, and Gores Holdings IX since January 2022. He serves as an Independent Nominee Director of Gores Holdings X, Inc. (NASDAQ: GTEN), where SEC filings show he beneficially owns 25,000 Class B founder shares, and he is likewise a director of Gores Holdings XI, Inc., having filed an initial Form 3 reporting 25,000 Class B ordinary shares in that entity as well. According to SEC ownership records, Bort has served as a reporting insider across approximately twenty public company entities over the course of his career.
Beyond his corporate roles, Bort serves as Treasurer of the Board of Trustees of All For Kids (formerly Children's Bureau), a Los Angeles-based nonprofit organization focused on foster care and the prevention of child abuse. His combination of deep investment banking roots, extensive SPAC governance experience across one of the most active sponsor platforms in the market, and current executive leadership in the data center infrastructure sector positions him as a uniquely cross-functional figure in both the capital formation and operating landscapes.
This record is keyed to SEC CIK 0001649375 — the identifier this person files under in their own name. Every vehicle above is a filing made under that CIK, so “the same person on two shells” is a fact about an SEC identifier rather than about a name that happens to match.
Roles are the strings the filings used, in the order they were filed. Nothing on this page ranks them, infers seniority, or offers a reason why any two of these names recur — a recurrence is a count, and the filings that produced it are linked beside every row. We also hold 167 institutional-holder rows on these vehicles, under 56 distinct name strings, and none of them is counted across vehicles: that table has no CIK column, and matching holders by name would merge firms that are not the same firm.
