Antonio Carlos Augusto Ribeiro Bonchristiano is a São Paulo-based private equity executive and SPAC sponsor who currently serves as Chief Executive Officer of GP-Act III Acquisition Corp. (NASDAQ: GPAT), a $287.5 million blank-check company that priced its IPO on May 9, 2024, with Cantor Fitzgerald as left-lead bookrunner. GP-Act III is a tripartite partnership among GP Investments, IDS III LLC, and Boxcar Partners III, and is focused on identifying a high-potential U.S.-based business combination. Bonchristiano leads the management team alongside Co-Chairmen Fersen Lamas Lambranho and Steven Spinner and CFO Rodrigo Boscolo, with independent directors Andrew Fleiss, Alexandre Ruberti, and Sergio Pedreiro. Bonchristiano's primary career has been at GP Investments, Ltd. (BVMF: GPIV33), Latin America's first listed private equity firm, which he joined in 1993. He became a managing partner in 1995 and, together with Fersen Lambranho, assumed leadership of the firm in 2003 as part of a succession plan, acquiring 100% control the following year. He served as Co-CEO and President from May 2006 and has been CEO of GP Investments for over 17 years on average across his leadership roles. Under his tenure, GP raised successive funds including GP Capital Partners III ($250 million in 2005) and a $1.3 billion fund in 2007, and completed a landmark $308 million IPO in 2006, the first listed private equity company in Latin America. Prior to GP Investments, Bonchristiano was a Partner at Johnston Associates Inc., a London-based finance consultancy, and worked at Salomon Brothers Inc. in London and New York from 1987 to 2000. He was also Co-Founder and CEO of Submarino S.A., a major Brazilian e-commerce company, from 1999 to 2001, and served as CFO of SuperMar Supermercados from February 1995 to June 1997.
His extensive board portfolio spans public, private, and non-profit organizations. He currently serves as Chairman of G2D Investments, Ltd. (BVMF: G2DI33), a listed tech-focused investment company, and as a board member of BR Properties S.A., GP Advisors, Ensure Holdings LLC, and Virtual Dining Concepts Inc. He has been a board member of The Craftory Limited and previously served as independent director of Ambev S.A. (2014–2023), Rimini Street, Inc. (2017–2021), Rumo S.A. (since September 2001), Estácio Participações (2008–2012, Co-Chairman from 2012), BHG S.A. – Brazil Hospitality Group (2010–2013, Chairman), LAHotels S.A. (2007–2009, Chairman), ALL – América Latina Logística (2003–2008), Gafisa S.A. (1997–2006), BRMalls (2005–2006), Magnesita Refratários (2006–2008), CEMAR (2004–2005), Hopi Hari (2002–2007), Submarino (1999–2001), Tempo (2005–2006), Geodex Communication (2001), and Contax Participações (2002–2003), among many others. He served as Vice Chairman of BR Properties (2012–2013 and again from June 2016), Vice Chairman of Spice Private Equity AG (from 2013), and Vice Chairman of APEN AG. He has also held directorships at San Antonio Internacional, Equatorial Energia, Lupatech, Farmasa, LBR Lácteos Brasil, ABC Supermercados, Sé Supermercados, Allis Participações, Kuala S.A., and Playcenter, and served as Chairman of the Mexico Advisory Board at GP Capital Partners IV.
Bonchristiano holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Politics, Philosophy, and Economics from the University of Oxford. He is actively involved in non-profit governance, having served on the boards of Fundação Estudar in São Paulo (from 2016), Fundação Bienal de São Paulo (2010–2016), and the John Carter Brown Library in Providence, Rhode Island (2011–2020).
