Alexander Coleman is a seasoned private equity executive and SPAC sponsor with over 25 years of operationally led investing experience, currently serving as Managing Partner of New Providence Corp and Chairman of New Providence Acquisition Corp. III (NPAC), a Cayman Islands exempted company that priced a $261 million IPO in April 2025 targeting the consumer sector. Prior to founding New Providence, Coleman was the founder and Managing Partner of Annex Capital Management LLC, a U.S.-based middle market private equity firm established in 2004 that focused on control investments across a broad array of industries as well as distressed debt and secondary direct equity acquisitions. Concurrently with Annex, he served as Co-Head and Managing Partner of Citicorp Venture Capital, Citi's New York-based leveraged buyout fund. He was also a Managing Partner of Sea Hunter, a specialized fund focused on the evolving global cannabis market and a predecessor to Tilt Holdings, where he subsequently served as Chief Executive Officer. From 1996 through 2004, Coleman was a Managing Investment Partner and Co-Head of Dresdner Kleinwort Capital LLC, Dresdner Bank's North American merchant banking group, where he oversaw the bank's U.S.-based private equity businesses including control and minority equity investing, mezzanine, distressed senior debt, and a fund-of-funds program. He began his career at Citigroup in 1989, working in the Media Group, the Restructuring Group, and Citicorp Venture Capital through 1995.
Coleman earned an MBA from the University of Cambridge and a BA in Economics from the University of Vermont. Throughout his career, he has served as CEO, Chairman, and Director for numerous private and public companies, including Big Red Group, TeleCorp PCS, JAC Products, Wholesome & Hearty Foods (Gardenburger Inc.), Data Transmission Networks, Remy Inc., StackTeck Systems Ltd., Maxcess International, Hypercube (formerly KMC Telecom), Mrs. Field's Famous Brands Inc., NurseFinders Inc., Waddington International Inc., and AST SpaceMobile. His investment focus has centered predominantly on U.S.-based middle market companies operating in consumer-packaged goods, food and beverage, franchise businesses, information and business services, satellite communications, and specialized manufacturing. Based in the New York City metropolitan area with a mailing address in Austin, Texas, Coleman has deployed approximately $966 million in aggregate capital across his SPAC vehicles, with frequent associates including Gary P. Smith, Rick Mazer, James Bradley, Daniel Ginsberg, and Timothy Gannon, and frequent underwriters including Deutsche Bank Securities, Cantor Fitzgerald, and BTIG.
