Jay N. Levine is a seasoned financial services executive and SPAC sponsor who currently serves as an independent trustee and board member at Starwood Credit Real Estate Income Trust (SCREDIT) and as a board member at StoicLane Inc. With over 30 years of operating and leadership experience across public and private financial services markets, Levine has built a distinguished track record in banking, consumer lending, commercial real estate finance, and special purpose acquisition vehicles. His career has been defined by turnaround leadership, large-scale M&A, and the reinvention of legacy financial institutions.
Levine's most prominent SPAC role was as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Cascade Acquisition Corp (NYSE: CAS), a blank check company that raised $230 million in its November 20, 2020 IPO led by Credit Suisse. Cascade was focused on identifying value-oriented acquisition opportunities across sub-sectors of the financial services industry, including asset management, consumer banking, business lending, CRE technology, fintech, insurtech, and mortgage origination. Levine co-led the SPAC alongside Daniel Hirsch, leveraging their deep operational expertise to target balance sheet-light financial institutions and technology providers. The SPAC ultimately liquidated, with its closing date recorded as June 8, 2022, after failing to complete a business combination. Levine personally invested in the venture, purchasing 250,000 shares at $10 per share in November 2020.
Prior to Cascade, Levine served as President and Chief Executive Officer of OneMain Financial (NYSE: OMF, formerly Springleaf) from March 2011 to September 2018, and subsequently as Chairman of the Board from June 2018 to December 2020. He is widely credited with architecting the reinvention of OneMain, transforming a business that Fortress had acquired in 2010 for approximately $125 million into a company valued at over $4 billion. He eliminated bureaucratic inertia, introduced strategic planning, restructured an unprofitable business model, and invested in technology and data analytics to modernize the consumer lending platform. Before OneMain, Levine served as President, CEO, and Director of Capmark Financial Group, a commercial real estate finance company, from 2008 to 2011, where he led the company through its corporate restructuring. From 2000 to 2008, he was President, CEO, and Board Director of Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS) Global Banking & Markets in North America, as well as CEO of its predecessor entity, RBS Greenwich Capital.
In addition to his executive roles, Levine served on the Board of Directors of FinServ Acquisition Corp. (NASDAQ: FSRV), a financial services-focused SPAC, from November 2019 through August 2020. He earned a bachelor's degree from the University of California, Davis. Levine's broad deal sourcing network, M&A diligence and integration expertise, and deep domain knowledge of the financial services ecosystem have made him a valued board member and advisor across the financial services and real estate investment landscape.
This record is keyed to SEC CIK 0001589135 — the identifier this person files under in their own name. Every vehicle above is a filing made under that CIK, so “the same person on two shells” is a fact about an SEC identifier rather than about a name that happens to match.
Roles are the strings the filings used, in the order they were filed. Nothing on this page ranks them, infers seniority, or offers a reason why any two of these names recur — a recurrence is a count, and the filings that produced it are linked beside every row. We also hold 43 institutional-holder rows on these vehicles, under 22 distinct name strings, and none of them is counted across vehicles: that table has no CIK column, and matching holders by name would merge firms that are not the same firm.
