Charles Matthew Danzeisen (born c. 1977) is an American financier and investor who currently serves as Head of Private Investments and portfolio manager at Thiel Capital, the Los Angeles-based investment firm founded by billionaire Peter Thiel, whom Danzeisen married in 2017 in Vienna, Austria. In practice, according to Handelsblatt, Danzeisen co-manages Thiel Capital alongside Thiel, with a focus on private investments, the financial services sector, and equity investments across the United States, Europe, and Australia, as well as two funds in Japan and South Korea. He is also a CFA charterholder and graduated from the Cornell University School of Hotel Administration in 1999 with a degree in finance and a minor in economics. His career began in investment banking at Bank of America Securities Asia Ltd. from 2000 to 2001, followed by a tenure as vice president at BlackRock from 2002 to 2008. Around 2007, when he and Thiel began dating, Danzeisen was based in New York; after Thiel decided against relocating Clarium Capital (Thiel Capital's predecessor) to New York, Danzeisen left BlackRock and joined Clarium Capital and Thiel Capital in 2008. He also previously held experience in investment banking at Deutsche Bank, according to additional reporting.
In 2012, Danzeisen co-founded Seoul-based Crescendo Equity Partners, a private equity firm sponsored by Thiel Capital that focuses on mid-cap manufacturing and technology companies in Asia. Danzeisen serves as a member of Crescendo's investment committee and representative to selected portfolio companies, with Korean media outlet thebell referring to his position as director. Crescendo is notable for investments in semiconductor companies such as HPSP (often dubbed Korea's ASML), Hanmi Semiconductor, Samyang NCchem, and Movensys (formerly Soft Servo Group, renamed after Crescendo's investment in 2021), as well as metal equipment manufacturers including Seojin System and Model Solution, and Line Next, a unit of Line Corporation and a joint venture between SoftBank and Naver. By 2020, Crescendo had invested over $550 million across South Korea and Southeast Asia. In 2014, representing Thiel Capital, Danzeisen announced a joint venture with Singapore-based Octave Capital to support Korean firms in the Americas, with backing from KDB Industrial Bank and IBK Industrial Bank of Korea and Hong Kong-based Excelsior Capital as sub-fund manager. Danzeisen has also been active in Asia-Pacific diplomacy and business development, leading delegations to meet political and business leaders, including a 2018 visit to Tashkent, Uzbekistan, to discuss IT export development with the Ministry of Finance, and a 2025 trip to the Osaka-Kansai World Expo in Japan, where he met with U.S. ambassador William E. Grayson and a senior advisor to the Saudi royal family.
Danzeisen has served as chairman of the board of directors for three SPAC companies — Bridgetown Holdings Ltd., Bridgetown 2 Holdings Ltd., and Bridgetown 3 Holdings Ltd. — all sponsored by Thiel Capital and Richard Li's Pacific Century Group. Bridgetown 2 Holdings completed its $299 million IPO in January 2021, led by CEO and CFO Daniel Wong and Chairman Matt Danzeisen, with Citigroup Global Markets among the underwriters. In March 2022, Bridgetown 2 successfully completed its business combination with PropertyGuru, Southeast Asia's largest real estate platform, at an enterprise value of approximately US$1.36 billion and an equity value of approximately US$1.61 billion. PropertyGuru operates across Singapore, Thailand, Malaysia, Vietnam, and Indonesia. The first Bridgetown SPAC merged with Hong Kong- and Singapore-based fintech company MoneyHero in 2023; MoneyHero is one of Greater Southeast Asia's largest personal finance tech and data platforms, with over 270 commercial partner relationships and 5.3 million monthly unique users as of mid-2025. Danzeisen is based in San Francisco and, beyond his professional roles, has been involved in a le
This record is keyed to SEC CIK 0001826815 — the identifier this person files under in their own name. Every vehicle above is a filing made under that CIK, so “the same person on two shells” is a fact about an SEC identifier rather than about a name that happens to match.
Roles are the strings the filings used, in the order they were filed. Nothing on this page ranks them, infers seniority, or offers a reason why any two of these names recur — a recurrence is a count, and the filings that produced it are linked beside every row. We also hold 30 institutional-holder rows on these vehicles, under 16 distinct name strings, and none of them is counted across vehicles: that table has no CIK column, and matching holders by name would merge firms that are not the same firm.
